There are people who have not yet received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccination, and they come to the hospital through referrals from city hall.
One of them had a blood pressure of 190 when he came to the hospital. He smelled like cigarettes. He also had shortness of breath on exertion. He said he had not seen a doctor in years. We discussed the possibility of taking a stress ECG for free, and if there was no problem, we would give him the vaccination, if there was a problem, we would postpone the vaccination. As a result, the EKG was borderline. We decided not to inoculate him.
Today, a cardiac CT scan showed moderate stenosis in the anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery, LDL was 177, and he accepted our suggestion of treatment with antihypertensive drugs and statins and decided to come to the hospital. It was good that we could intervene at this point.
As I have mentioned before, there are people whose diseases are discovered through vaccination. As a doctor, I do not want to lose that opportunity. Vaccination is not only an opportunity to vaccinate, but also a valuable meeting place between doctors and people with diseases.
